80MPH on motorways?

It would literally make no difference to how things are already.

They have said it would be strictly enoforced whereas the current 70mph has some leeway.
10% plus 2mph to be exact which is an actual 79 mph since most speedos overread you can do 85mph indicated on your speedo and it would be highly unlikely you would get pulled.

Whereas if you did an indicated 87mph an actual 81mph you would actually have more chance of a ticket if the speed is strictly enforced as they claim it will be.

The only thing stopping you doing 80mph at present is all the laneswitching lane hogging traffic which will not change so it's just a big PR stunt.

90 is a more realistic top speed. With fines for lane hogging.
Variable`s to be adhered to for fog/snow/Ice ect.
Rubber neckers to have heads twisted off.

The current speed limit of 70mph ought to be kept as it is easier to ignore than one that is faster.

Those dangerous car drivers that clog up lanes on the motorway doing under the speed limit ought to be shot.
