Which is best for a stud wall which will be tiled? Or is 9 just for ceilings?

Never use 9.5mm boards for walls &, personally, I don’t know anyone who uses it on ceilings any longer. Only use Moisture Resistant PB in bathrooms & tank it in wet areas or, preferable, use a waterproof tile backer (Aquapanel or similar) board as advised. Tile directly onto the PB but if you want to plaster MR board, it must be primed first.
