A bit about Ian Tomlinson RIP

You know, I was watching "Coppers" on TV last night.

A drunk in a city centre, could have been Mr Tomlinson (not that I'm saying Mr T was drunk, I'm unsure about that), shoved from behind by copper, ended up on his ar*e.

Did he deserve it? I don't think so.

I spent the whole programme looking at the way they handled their meetings with members of the public only to conclude that they were inflammatory in many cases. Why?

you only have to watch these cop shows and you will see it,s that common they dont care who sees it!

always well over the top.

The police are just the same as any other organisation, they'll have their share of bad apples and bullies, but we live in a society where nightime hospital staff have to have protection against being assaulted ffs. I wouldn't like to be a copper, if I were I could see myself beating the cr*p out many a young scumbag on a nightly basis.

Having nothing better to do, i too watched the programme.
Yes, some of their actions were inflammatory but the majority of the public seemed to be p*ssed up or smacked up and just looking for trouble.

I also saw a drunk pushed from behind. Same incident as the one mentioned above? i don't know. But the one i saw was of no more than a gently persuasion.

And yes, my views on the Police have already been posted on here.

I've had a thought.

Let's implement an 'opt out' system from paying a contribution to the Police in our taxes.

Those of you that continually moan and b*tch about the Police and subsequently 'opt out' will get f*ck all help in an emergency.
Simple.
When your house gets burgled, daughter raped, car nicked, elderly mother beaten for the last fiver in her purse...... Don't phone for assistance, you opted out, so therefore get F*ck all help.

Admittedly it needs a bit of fine tuning. :D

But the old bill would have more time for the decent people. :D :D
And rightly so.

But do you believe the push that Ian Tomlinson was on the receiving end of, was of the "gentle persuasion type?"

I've had my house burgled 1982, the police eventually turned up and gave us a crime no. they never caught anyone, waste of time, why is it? i get my bike out the garage, put my lid on start the engine and hey presto!! i've got an immediate audience with half a dozen squad cars ready for a chase.

Truth is Pred, I have never once said the Police are perfect. They're not.
But we're better off with 'em than without 'em. Fact.

I agree LMB, the police (99%) of them are probably the finest in the world, German politzei are OTT, i got banged up in an open prison for 3months, this was a minor misdemeanor, long story, short version, i jumped over the wall one night, about a month later i was grassed up and had two plain clothes waiting for me at the train station, one grabbed me by the shirt, i was about to smack him one and his puny little coleague put a gun to my head, a bit different to being hit with a trucheon.
