I've had a thought.
Let's implement an 'opt out' system from paying a contribution to the Police in our taxes.
Those of you that continually moan and b*tch about the Police and subsequently 'opt out' will get f*ck all help in an emergency.
Simple.
When your house gets burgled, daughter raped, car nicked, elderly mother beaten for the last fiver in her purse...... Don't phone for assistance, you opted out, so therefore get F*ck all help.
Admittedly it needs a bit of fine tuning.
But the old bill would have more time for the decent people.
And rightly so.

Perhaps, LMB, you ought to stop for a moment and consider the fact that actually, we do not "continually moan and b*tch about the Police".
We have voiced our displeasure recently in the way one particular officer has dealt with a situation resulting in a death and also disbelief concerning the outcome of the ensuing court case.
Because this case has been under the media spotlight a great deal and that "Coppers" programme was the first of its kind I'd watched since the discussion here about Ian Tomlinson, I happened to draw similarities between how he was treated and what happened to the man in the programme.
That does not mean we "continually moan and b*tch about the Police".
Far from it.
It does not mean every police officer is bad and it does not mean we are constantly critical of what they do.
In fact, I think you'll find that the kind of people who do "continually moan and b*tch about the Police" are the criminal element of society.

Personally, I'd take my chances without the pigs... erm the police.
Due to an incident with a neighbour, Ive had the ANPR Interceptors pull me over in my van every chance they get.
When asked if I had been drinking, I always respond "yes, loads." So the breath test is out, and I blow into it. When it comes back with a green light I'm asked what Ive drunk. I just tell the truth.... water and lemonade, and lots of tea.
So then the police state "we meant alcohol". I always state that is not what you asked. If I have time, I use the law to sit in the back of their Volvo and read the book which has to be available by law. Took me 2 1/4hrs last time.
The police cannot stop you from reading it, but they are very annoyed if you know your rights. I know they will keep stopping me as I annoy them, but I'm fine with it. Im so busy, Im glad of the sit down. I have my lunch or dinner in the back whilst I'm reading - they cannot stop that either, as you are not under arrest.

Over two hours of being stuck in a motor with you, when hypothetically they could have been out searching for a missing little girl, or chasing the scumbag smackheads who have just kicked an old girl half to death for her pension money.
Yep Marvellous use of resources.

I believe it's time for the police to start making the decisions whether to prosecute criminals again though. Do away with the CPS. At the same time we need courts with the power to impose serious sentences for habitual criminals, rapists, murderers, drug dealers etc. A ten year sentence, should mean exactly that. Ten years, none of this nonsense about only doing 5 yrs inside before being released.
Prisons full ?? No worries build more. This would help the construction industry and improve job prospects as the prison service will need more officers, and will help local economies where new prisons are built.
Repeal the Human Rights legislation and replace it with a Human Responsibilities Charter. Then make sure all prisons are strict, harsh environments, which criminals will not want to ever go back to.

Oh dear we can't do that send more people to prison we'd need more prisons and Cameron would say we haven't got the money but if we hung all the convicted murderers rapists and child molesters would that not give us the room?

Norc, If the police keep on pulling someone over for no good reason, then it's the police that are wilfully, wasting their own time. If this is the case then someone higher up needs informing. Police are paid through public money and therefore are accountable.
Bit of an unfair comment.
Driving down the road and Dimbleby, the station intellectual insists on repeatedly pulling over a member of the public then the Police deserve all the opprobrium that heads their way.
F*ck me , lets hope not.
Let's not torture ourselves any longer..
