Single socket wasn't working, no mcb's had tripped. Took the socket off and found this. It was an old feed from a cooker switch which had been converted to a sso and then went on to feed a dso in 1.5mm all backed up by 32A mcb. The cpc's were twisted together at the bottom of the box.

Found the reason for no power, the cooker switch was turned off.
 
I'm not surprised the socket stopped working. Look at those tiles!
 
Nice picture, bit wierd using a short length of cable all with the same conductor colour and stuffing it in the block like that, guess it worked so was "OK". :?
 
The customer had wired it himself, he's a 90 year old retired engineer. I'm now receiving therapy after looking at those tiles!
 
At least the socket appears to be a decent English one & not some Chinese crud.
