Thanks Happy and everyone else. I feel much better for all the advice you've given me.

I'm going to give them one more chance and then find someone else.

HP be careful what you say in South Wales.... Announce that you are a "Professional motivator" and they know that ...

1 You can't get a proper job
2 You are the only one in the village.. ;)

Thank you for that tip. You can visit me in the Algarve if you like. Just pop around and sort out my pipework.

Happy, my house is actually in South Wales. I'm having it done up and then I'm moving there. When I have a bathroom. In about thirty years.

So your profile says you are in London.

You say the house is in the Algarve.

Then you say its in South Wales.

You have not said anything about how you found these plumbers or how they contracted for the job. Is it a well established firm like Jones the Plumber? Did they give you a written quote?

Tony

Agile your profile says you are a boiler specialist so you must understand the people write a load of nonsense in their profile ;)

Agile, read the thread properly! The Algarve thing was a joke in response to Boilerman's joke. And I said quite clearly that I was moving to the house - i.e I'm not living in it yet.

Anyway, the plumbers are back and working away. They've had a stern talking to and they know that any more arsing around = they get the boot.

Yes, I got a written quote for the work. The plumbers were recommended by a friend who has known them both since they were kids. She's given them hell for messing me around.

What sort of value does Lead fetch these days? I ripped a long piece of spanning the length of my house, about 22m possibly larger - is it worth taking to a metal dealer and what could I expect value wise?

Also, I'm ripping out lots of old copper, is that worth keeping?
