Can you connect copper pipe to a lead supply pipe then connect back to lead? The supply pipe in my house is lead and runs up through my downstairs cloakroom. I want to fit a new suite but to replace all the lead would b a massive job including taking out bathroom/kitchen/flooring. So im looking to just fit copper on the run of lead pipe in the cloakroom. Is their any problem regarding contamination? I know u can connect copper to lead using leadloc but cant find info anywhere on whether u can go from lead to copper to lead on the same run of pipework. Please advise!!!!!!
Cheers

You shouldn`t because of the Water regs - but you could use plastic - JG speedfit or Hep2 o  you can use compression fittings on these - AND make sure there is no old earth wire to the lead because the plastic will ( obviously) break any elec. bond - that shouldn`t be there anyway BUT it`s killed people before now .

Thanks, plastic it is then! There is earth wire but I guess I can just run a length of earth wire to bypass the plastic?

get an electrician to look @ it first  . Mains water pipes were used for earthing many years ago - don`t start cutting it and holding both ends - if there is a fault somewhere -you`ll get a shock right across your chest . It could happen . Leave it alone and get the electrical system checked out :!:
