Hi,

My old washing machine is hot and cold fill. The new one will be cold fill only, as, it seems, are all new ones.

Would I be able to connect the hot filler tap to the cold inlet of the new machine? As our hot water is heated overnight by Economy 7, this would be financially better for us.

Or are there computers in washing machines nowadays that would be confused by hot water coming in?

Some advice would be welcome, please.

you need to stick with the cold supply or it won't be able to regulate the different temps as you have no cold to do a lower temp cycle than what your hot supply will be.

I see. This means it couldn't give, say, a lukewarm finishing rinse.

You make sense. Many thanks.

Modern Washing machines use so little water it is cheaper to let the machine heat the water!!

DO NOT CONNECT to the Hot supply as you will totally screw the digital controls on your machine and will affect the warranty!! ;)

Where do you get this digital/hot water, damaged , advice from???

Now you should ask the professional plumbers (I'm not one) if you should cap off your redundant hot water supply
