unsolvable as last line are diff symbols

but why do most of you think the caterpillar (with the flower) is worth 6 ?
or the clocks worth 5 ?

Caterpillar means nothing. It’s the spots on the caterpillar that count. Same with the hours on the clock. A clock at 6 o’clock is 6 and a clock at 5 o’clock is 5. Flower is worth 2.

I agree it was unsolvable.

The caterpillar apparently is worth 2 for the flower it is wearing plus the number of spots.

However, the clocks are either 5,59,48 and 4,59,48 or 6,00,48 and 5,00,48 depending on how the minute hand works.

The 5 spot caterpillar with flower are identical in line 1, so they're clearly worth 7.

Line two is also pretty easy, the clocks pointing to six are worth 6 once you take the 5 spot caterpillar with a flower.

Line three gives us the value of a flower on its own as 2. Which we can take away from the 5-spot-caterpillar-with-a-flower to give us a 5 spot caterpillar being worth 5.
