What's a horrible Americanism?
What's wrong with America anyhow. Most people who critisize it have never been there, or are jealous that its the best country in the world.
Americans are quite rightly patriotic, their country has a lot going for it. Who could be proud of this $hitty little island, full of moaning, small-minded people, chronic overcrowding and dire weather. Its mid July, and its 65 degrees and pouring outside!!

How pray tell do you keep the noise in your garden
Well I do, 'cos I don't have any close neighbours.
Apart from a lawn mower for half an hour every 2 weeks, I don't make any noise in my garden.

Yes, but the difference was, my parents would have disciplined me before I became a nuisance. They wouldn't have encouraged self expression that would affect other people. Children should be seen but not heard is an old saying, from a time when people respected each other more and crime was a fraction of what it is now as a result. Anything goes now.
