New BBQ, Gas or Not, which to buy

Ok Time to buy a new BBQ, can't decide which is best, Gas or Charcoal ?.
A bit of a novice with the old BBQ thing so any advise would be great.

if you are going to use gas cook indoors, if you want Charcoal smoke taste use Charcoal

No such thing as a gas BBQ, its just an outdoor oven and grill!

Fair enough, Can't work out then why people by the Gas version, I was thinking along the lines of why would it taste any different to cooking on the Hob ?

Theres not much different to taste, gas BBQ's have a vapouriser bar, when the hot juices drop onto it you get the BBQ smell/taste. But you can tell gas from charcoal.

I have both, only use the gas one when there a lot of people around, just for speed and convienence really.

I prefer to get the BBQ lit, its all part of the fun.

charcoal far more superior, for true BBQ taste, you can add aromatic wood chips for enhanced flavouring, gas is for wimps, and indoor cooking.

use my BBQ and cob oven all year around and save a lot of money not using the indoor oven

I use cast iron plates/grill over a hot firepit...

Best for taste, but also have an old gas one for 'spur of the moment' bbq's...hooded as well, so good for roasts.

Use kindling then.
Or newspaper brickets.
More than one way to avoid the residue you mention.
