Hi all, the T valve connected to my washing machine has seized and I'd like to change it to plumb in a new machine. Could one of you good people advise me if I should use PTFE tape and if so, how and what type.
As the title suggests, I'm a rookie so please keep it simple! Many Thanks.

Post a pic of the valve.

Usually, if it's a straight swap and your changing like for like using the original nut and olive then i's advise to use a few wraps of water PTFE tape around the olive or 1 (edit spell) wrap of gas PTFE just as a belt'n'braces.

Do you mean a compression T isolation valve?

In which case it is the olive that seals not the compression thread
