The EU ones were actually positive for The UK. The unskilled, backwards third worlders we're getting now will forever be a liability unless they're booted out.
And because of this, many companies are making prospective employees jump through hoops as part of the recruitment process, often for relatively low level basic positions.
As for jobs like casual bar work, as I touched on earlier, this is becoming increasingly difficult for employers (that do stuff by the book) to offer due to increased legislation. No, we don't want to return to an era where workers were widely exploited, however there's a real danger that in seeking parity for everyone, legislation is having an increasingly detrimental effect on so-called casual employment opportunities.
Re the BIB, I'm mid 50s and just hoping I can see my working career through now without any hurdles.
So why do you think the RW struggle to make more than a couple of posts without getting back to immigrants and immigration?
I'm just hoping there's still a state pension when I need it in about 7 years time.
The percentage of unpaid loans is now high enough to mean that it would be cheaper not to have tuition fees in the first place...
But it was political ideology to encourage more to go to University (often when previously not needed), and treat education as a business...
The interest rates and the way the conditions are altered are more like the payday loan companies!
Of course the rich can pay up front, so it maintains the social divide...
So how come many of our European neighbours manage to make sure that their kids aren't saddled with a debt for life?
Because they follow a social model that the UK rejected!
And many European countries invest in all sorts of policies to help youngsters who don't go to University...
Hence 'neet' percentages can be lower than in the UK...
But what has to also be noted is those percentages are rising across most of the western world !

What I love about YT is the way I can tailor my viewing to whatever I want to watch at any given time. e.g. I might watch a guy painting a door, then watch someone reviewing a car, then watch someone trying to revive a truck that hasn't moved for 30 years, then watch a lady trying on bikinis, then ... oops ... please ignore the last example

I wish there was an option to mix things up a bit more on YouTube. I watch on a Google TV dongle plugged into my ancient TV. It's very good at giving you more of what you've already watched. It needs a control to reduce how much it bases its recommendations on what you've already watched. Or perhaps a separate section that just lists random nonsense that others are watching.
Nonsense. Some go on to work as interns etc. Bank of mom and dad is a generous friend. Not a lot has changed over the decades in that respect.

Intern roles are usually for under graduates. They often explicitly state Graduates should not apply. it is different in the US, however.
