Accessing chimney stack.

Any suggestions on how to access a chimney on the gable end of a two story house. Right beneath is a single story gabled extension. The ladders will go against the gable end wall but about arms length away from chimney and ladders will extend only as far as arms length below ridge line if you know what I mean I just want to remove ivy and paint.

I'm quite used to doing a trapeze on the top of ladders but I think I'd want a staging for that one.....especially if the chimney needs some work!

Yes Burnerman. I'm too long in the tooth to be clowning around! I wanted to hire a saddle staging but the only place I could find is in N Ireland. Anyway some lads are erecting a staging for £340 next week.

I would have advised you to work from the top down that
way you would have had something to tie your ladders to.
