The control board on my 2002 boiler has a "Diagnostics" socket on the front.
How do i access it and connect to a laptop or whatever?

thanks,
Chris,

You don't...any diagnostic socket on boilers is for manufacturers own engineers use.
A boiler that age is simple to diagnose.
What's the prob?

No prob.

Just thought it might be useful in the general scheme of things.
Kind of like the OBD2 diagnostic connector on cars, which the US Government insisted all manufacturers make available to the unwashed public, not just the 'Engineers'.
Do you know the pinout, I see there is an I2C serial bus on the board ?

best regards,
Chris.

We have to make do with the flashing lights or codes that the manufacturer gives us...and often they're a hindrance....fixing boilers is all about experience.
Some boilers have a single flashing light to indicate every conceivable fault...independents are not worthy.
Remember the car industry had multiple organisations lobbying the EU to get OBD over here.

You make some good points, Gasguru!

If I get anywhere on a spare control board, I'll let you know.

Chris.
