acoustic insulation

Hi All,

I'm putting up new ceiling boards on the ground floor and thought it would be sensible to pack out the joists separating upstairs and downstairs with some acoustic protection. I don't want to spend a fortune but what do you recommend? Thanks

Stuff in as much fibre-wool/rock-wool as possible,not using the specialised "Sound-Blok" or otherwise-named products. When I was doing this with partition walls,I managed to compress 200 mm to 100 mm but it was difficult.
