Acro strong boy lintel installation

Hello,

I am installing a lintel for for a fire place but the smallest acros I could hire sit 8 courses Above lintel.

Is this okay? Will the brick work hold below it? Will be using strong boys

Do you really need to prop it? Most fireplace lintels you can be careful and just take it out.

When people have done the job a few times they realize this. Also the amount of brickwork you could lose takes little time to relay, so for a pro it's not worth the hassle of digging out a size 0 acro that isn't really needed.

If your not having the bricks on display once finished drill and screw a 4x2 piece of wood across the width of the entire chimney breast on the coarse above your lintel, it will hold the brickwork in place fine.

As mentioned, probably not needed, but instead of an acro, you could just cut an old fence post to size and wedge it in.
