When do you use one sealant versus the other? Seems they are often inter-changeable.

I've recently installed a soil outlet from a new toilet and the 110mm pipe needed to go through brick wall on the outside and a plaster wall on the inside. I decided to use silicone on both sides to seal the gap.

But my window installers always used acrylic sealant on inside and outside...

Any guidelines?

Thanks

Paul

Id go for Acrylic inside because it can be painted over.

Outside you'd have to weigh up the situation..depending on the size of any gaps and the walls that are surrounding te windows i.e. brick walls, plastic windows..therefore silicone would be better..smooth painted render..then Acrylic might be a better option.
