add new lighting circuit to consumer unit

got a nice new rcd consumer unit fitted recently.
i'd like to connect a strip light directly to a new fuse in the unit - they're both under the stairs. i assume i can cable in to the unit so long as i know where to put my live & neutral cables either side of a 5 amp fuse but with all those cables inside the unit i'm not sure where to start. help please?
