Adding a room stat to a Worcester Greenstar CDi combi

I'd like to add a room stat, either a wired or wireless unit to my combi boiler.

I see that you can readily buy the units, but are they easy to fit for the competent diy'er?

The boiler fitter said that it was 'just a couple of wires' and I could easily do it myself if required...

I've seen basic £16 mechanical wired units, similar to what I had on the old backboiler system previously. I've also seen £150 digital wireless units.

Anyone have any recommendations regarding the best one to go with?

Honeywell DT 92 E is my choice, around £90.00

Piece of cake to install, if you go wireless you need 2 switching wires plus a L&N

Looks a nice easy to use unit. I'd like a programmer too though, if they are available as an 'all in one' unit.

look at the Honeywell CM 927 if you want a programmable stat.

I like the idea of a 'party button', although it turned out to be less exiting.

For those that have used it, is it wall mountable?

Yes. It comes with both the wall bracket and the table stand.

We fit hundred's of the CM range and they are excellent.

The old system was all Honeywell controls, must have been 15 years. In fact, I've still got the old ST699 programmer and mechanical stat in the shed, but it's no good for a combi I'm told.

Now to find the cheapest price...

You could just use the htg part of the 699 although I wouldn't bother, much nicer all in one unit.

I thought of that originally, but as you say, much nicer having an all in one unit.

Still see them selling on ebay second hand for £20, which would be handy towards the cost of the upgrade.
