Adding attic trusses to a bungalow

my existing bungalow ceiling joists are 4x2 sitting on a 4x2 wall plate. The proposed attic truss floor joists are 200mm for a loft conversion.
In order to keep the ceilings in tact and leave all the wiring as is , has anyone got experience of packing up the existing plate so it's level with the top of the existing floor joists?
This would make the wall plate 150x100 in effect?

Wedge and fix a 4x3 beam (4" high) into the angle between the rafters and the joists, then fix joist hangers on to the beam, with the joists sitting high enough that they don't touch the ceiling below.
