Boarding loft help please

Hi I want to board my attic but have a slight issue. My ceiling joists don't sit on a wall plate they are connected to the roof rafters. There is a blocked wall in the middle of the house support middle of joists. I was planning on bolting 4x2 on to existing 4x2 to create an 8x2. All I plan on using space for is storage
