Hi all,

A quick question, I had my consumer unit replaced last year, all done to regs at the time by electrician, tested, signed off etc. When installed 6 spare spaces were left for future proofing (was meant to be two but electrician ordered size more than needed, but no great issue there). All breakers RCBO.

We are now wanting to add additional circuits for an extension. One electrician is saying we need to replace consumer unit to be fire proof as per the now new regs, one saying we don't and adding the circuits will be fine.

Who is correct?

Please, please, PLEASE report the one who told you it had to be replaced to the body (NICEIC/NAPIT/etc) to which he belongs.
