Adding coupler or T but cannot "sprag" pipes

Here's a situation I have experienced a couple of times now but unsure of an easy solution:

I want to add an iso valve or end feed T or compression T into pipework but, for whatever reason, I cannot push the two ends of pipe away from each other. So the problem is trying to get a fitting in the gap (I get one end in but then the other end is "too long". Is this understandable?

I saw a 15mm compression coupler today that can be slid down completely over one pipe as far as one wants, then other pipe lined up and fitting slid over gap (I think it is one of those ones designed to cover a leak".

Problem is that it was £5.98... not the end of the world but there must be cheaper ways of joining two bits of pipe together for when this problem exists...

Can one buy end feed or compressions or iso valves that can slide freely along a length of pipe?

You can purchase slip sockets (ridgeless), file out the ridge on standard sockets, or make them with a mandrill.

Can you use a mandrill to make slip T's?

Can't file out an endfeed T I'm afraid,but you can also file out the ridge in a compression socket to make a slip socket-especially useful in awkward 22mm situations!

I would do that trick with a compression fitting but on an end feed that ridge is usually just crimped. I wouldn't like to file it as it would reduce the strength of the fitting.
