adding new light circuit

We have a 2 yr old fuse box and when doing building works we put in the power and light cable for the loft conversion. these are sitting outside the fuse box ready to be wired in at a later date when conversion starts. they have been taken up the wall into the loft area.

do we need to change the box when we come to do this new wiring? the box has 1 RCD on it and i thought we could add a new RCD, so keeping the box.

Impossible to say from your description - pictures of the current consumer unit would help us determine whether it would need replacing or not.

Also, what size cables have been installed for power and lights, as that will make a difference...

given that the fusebox is only 2 years old, there is a very good posibility that you can get RCBO's for it..
but we'd need to see the box and make of breakers to be sure..
