I'm adding new tarmac to my drive. The section to the right just outside the garage is in decent condition and is level with the floor of the garage and drain.
About 1.5 meters back from this to the left, the concrete is in bad shape at the top, so needs about 50mm of new tarmac applying to it and so does the rest of the drive (about 15 sqm of existing drive and I'm extend the drive by another 15 sqm around it).
I'm wondering how to join the two sections

Is the best option to cut a 2ft channel out and bridge the new higher tarmac level that would be on the left and be 50mm higher with the concrete on the right. It would mean having a bit of a slope.
Or take up all the concrete on the right?

The bit at the front of the image where soil is will also be tarmac too.
