Hi All,

I have added a spur light fitting to my upstairs passage. The switch for the light is at the bottom of the stairs. The spur I ran is further along the passage to light both ends.

My question is, how do I connect a switch on the upstairs wall under the new light (at end of passage) so both lights can be turned off from upstairs or at bottom of stairs.

I looked for wiring diagrams on Google, but couldn't find a suitable solution?

Thanks in anticipation

No, there is only one existing switch at bottom of stairs, which activated light at top of stairs. I now have extra light along passage and want to put an extra switch upstairs to turn on/off both lights.

Hope that makes sense

Many thanks for the replies. Running the 3 core from bottom switch is a pain, but makes sense.

I'll also check out the site you recommended.

Thanks again

You obviously knew that you would need to run a cable to the new switch.
Where did you expect that to go to?

The only other way is to install a wireless lighting control system.
