can anyone explain 742-01-04 , 742-01-01
and 743-01-02 of the 16th edition

to me it says that on the one hand, defects have
to be put right before the EIC can be issued

and on the other hand, it says that any defects
must be recorded on the EIC

742-01-01 is the general requirement to issue certification

and as too it contradicting itself... not really....

742-01-04 refers to the work covered by the EIC
743-01-02 refers to the eisting installation

Dont see your problem.

742-01-04 - anything found during your inspection & test of your work for which you are issuing the EIC or MEIWC must be corrected before you issue your certificate. You shouldn't make any mistakes; if you do you should notice them as you go along whilst you are working and not just pick them up on the formal inspection & test.

743-01-01 - any alteratons/additions are covered by the same general requirements as any brand new work as detailed in 741 & 742.

743-01-02 - the contractor is to record defects found during I&T on EIC MEIWC - but before the cert is issued the defects must be corrected to comply with 742-01-04. The defects found are recorded as part of the history.

Stand by to be corrected by the I&T experts
