I'm just putting in a hearth for a wood burning stove.
I have a couple of flagstones about 1.5" thick that I'll use, but I'm wondering what to use to stick them in place.
I have a bag of Unibond Rapidset Waterproof adhesive that I used for slating my kitchen floor.
Also have plenty OPC, sand, lime, etc.

Just wondering what will be best to cope with the high temperatures put out from the stove (9kW)?

If the flagstones are quite uneven its probably best to use a sand/lime/ cement bed. This will make it easier to get them level. They won't get too hot, even though they are close to the woodburner.

Would it depend on the type of sub-floor?

eg what if sticking them to timber? ;)

TBH, these slabs are not going anywhere and a 1p sized dab of gripfil or silicone will hold them ....... but as its a hearth, the criteria would be for a solid, even, full bed to prevent uneven expansion and cracking

Sounds good.
Subfloor is concrete so no probs there.

What would be a good ratio of sand / lime putty / opc?
