Now please don't shoot me for asking this question.

My go to for fixing skirting is screw and plug, I'm old fashioned, however, I have a whole house to second fix, everywall has foil backed insulated plasterboard on it.

Pipe and cable detecter will be as much use a handbrake on a canoe.

I read somewhere that Painters Mate "Caulk" is good for fitting skirting obviously with nails to hold, struck me as odd, not the nails!!

Is solvent based grab better than water based grab, is insta stick foam any good, ideally I need good grab but not a huge gap.

Thanks.

Foam adhesive , did my entire home without any mech fixings. (Mainly on insulated plasterboard .)

I used it to put up insulated plasterboard.

Admittedly I used a few screws to make sure it held tight whilst going off.

You might need to use some 2 x 1 battens and wedges off the opposite wall, for a few minutes.
