My apologies, I used the img button to add the picture but obviously has not worked.

Can anyone tell me how to post an image form my PC in to the thread please?

thanks

Use imageshack.......

http://imageshack.us/

Press the browse button.
Find the picture you want.
Press ...Host it.
Scroll down, and use the last URL, you can find.
Highlight it, right click, and save it.
Then place it between the IMG tags.

Like this......

This is a test to see if I've done it right
- thanks for letting me know how to put the picture in.

If the picture is now here, anyone who looks at it
can you leave a small comment please of your like or dislike of what you see.

Its part of a university course project which I supposed to get feedback on
hence posting to this forum

You seem to have 2 URL,s between your img tags....?

Remember you have a preview button, just below the spell check.
This will show you exactly what you get when you post.

This should work.

If you quote my post, you can look at how it is done.

The idea looks fine......But you will need a very strong hinge for your ramp to take the weight of the car.

trazor,

thanks for sorting the picture, what do think of it by the way?

Adequate strength will be required in every component.
I suppose manufacturing costs could be an issue, as generally the normal ramps you can buy seem to work quite well.

trazor,

thanks for your comment, apologies for not seeing you first posted
comment under the picture.

I appreciate your what you said.

The basic design is based on what I'd like myself as a user cause the ramps I have at present need chocks in front of the wheels to get the height above the front skirt of the car to clear of the ramps. The variable height, I think is an added bonus.

cheers

Yes, I did not give any thought to the very low skirts some cars have nowadays. I think owners of these cars would be very interested.
Good luck with the design............ :)

novel idea, but its fundamentaly flawed.

your picture only shows one ramp, do that and the car will be "lop sided" you need to have two ramps BOTH moving up / down at the same time.

To do that would need some form of "linkage" to do that would mean the two ramps would need to be secured to each other, to do that would mean a very large cumbersome heavy unit, who would buy it, the DIY person wont.
garage wont be interested as they have car lifts, or make do with fixed ramps

Or, you could just turn one up a wee bit then, the other one a wee bit until they are both up. They look like they will be a bit heavy though.

think about that.

most people (i opened THAT window and asked) will want an easy life, your idea is going to mean moving from one ramp to the other numerous times, i think not.
Also your idea means you have to buy 2 ramps = £ x 2

The other thing i never mentioned in my first reply is the £

what will a set of car ramps cost? £20 -£30?

how much will this thing cost (not that little i will guess)

I do not see any problem with jacking one side of the car only, this is what you do when you use a normal jack to change a wheel......
