Hi Gents
hopefully some one can help?
I have an American style fridge freezer admiral GC2224GEKW approx two year old,

Both the fridge and the freezer have stopped cooling,

The compressor is very noisy and getting very hot

Can this be replaced?

The compressor numbers are as follows
TP144-JR-229-B8
TPG1410YXC

If so does any one know how much the compressor is?

Thanks for any help
Regards
Wenners

If your Fridge Freezer compressor is constantly running (as opposed to trying to start and not being able to with the thermal cut out operating and cutting out the compressor) and not chilling I would start to suspect a refridgerent leak.

To change a compressor is not a DIY job as it is a sealed unit, you would need to check for and repair any leaks (can be hard if not impossible as alot of these have the pipework running in the insulation) first.

Then you come to the re gassing and leak checking again. (always assuming the compressor or a leak is at fault)

Does it have an internal fan to distribute the cold air from the freezer into the fridge, is the damper operating (a flap that opens and closes to allow more or less cold air into the fridge)

Some have seperate chiller plates for the fridge and freezer so the above does not always apply

Occasionally allowing a complete defrost (24 hours or so with door open to allow all the ice build up to melt) can solve problems (dampers/fans clogged with ice even if they are auto defrost)
