Hi all

I'm very much an amateur with DIY and don't have a lot of experience with cement or rendering. The external window sills on the second floor of my home are deteriorating as shown in the picture.

I'd like to have a go at fixing this - my thoughts would be to hack away anything still loose, build a box frame around each sill and then fill the frame with some mix of cement or render.

Can you guys advise me here? What sort of mix should I go for and how do I carry this out? Will anything else be needed before painting?

Thanks!

If you can, perhaps, do some close up pics of the stone sills and window heads, and the course of something above the window heads (it too seems to be deteriorating). Maybe, its whats called a string course?

What condition are your actual window frames in? Any signs of internal damp in the area of the pic?
