Hi,

We are wanting to change the colour of our wall tiles in the shower to white.

Would like to if possible avoid ripping the old tiles off and retiling as there is nothing wrong with the existing ones, they are just the wrong colour.

Any advice on the best paint (not necessarily the cheapest as I would like it to be the best finish possible) to purchase to hopefully achieve the desired look.

Many thanks for your advice

In MHO, as a tiler, there are two ways to change the colour of the tiles :-
1. Take them off and re-tile.
2. Cover them with some kind of ‘ wet wall’ plastic panels. These days you get some nice panels, some even have a tile pattern on them. ( there are fans of them on here who will be along in a minute )

I’ve yet to see a re-paint done properly where the person doesn’t admit their mistake and then call me in to do option 1 above

Tile painting is for selling house or a landlord special.
Cover with plastic panels is better or replace tiles

I cant comment on its durability in wet areas but I did our utility room in the V33 stuff from B&Q and it went on easy enough and seems to be quite hard wearing. Panels as suggested are a lot nicer these days to be honest and I am considering them in our shower when I re do it instead of the hassle of removing the old tiles.
