I have some pipework running parallel with the floor along a section of wall with a fairly sharp kink in it (see pic below).

The way I was planning on doing this was to get a length of timber, kerf cut it and fix some wooden blocks to the wall & attach the length of timber.

Questions I have are

1) Would this be better done with 1 length of timber or would it be better to have 2 straight lengths with a short curved section?

2) The wall is quite irregular & I'm not entirely sure about how I'm going to go about fitting the top section of wood that will cover the pipework and butt up against the wall. Obviously one side will match the profile of the other piece of timber but the other side will need to fit tight against the wall and account for all the irregularities.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Box it with two straight sections joined at an angle. Scribe the top to the wall, as required. The problem is one of practicality - do you have the necessary skills to build a curved boxing? Based on the fact that you don't understand scribing I do have to wonder. If it were me I'd probably still baulk at putting in that much effort on a boxing and just scribe the top

No, you're right. I probably don't have the skills. Will try your suggested approach. Thanks.

Fortunately learning to scribe isn't too difficult - and at a basic level justvrequires a pencil and a big washer or a school compass
