Just about to start work on laying a new lawn and want to make sure i am doing it right, Can someone run over my plan below to see if its correct on how i am going to do it.

Where the grass is going as shown in picture, half of floor to the left will be grass.

1. To get the levels correct i am going to scrape off the top layer of the current driveway to remove any weeds and rough grass down a couple of inches and discard this.

2. Once dug out hardcore is already laid from the driveway, so i will put in about 8 inches of topsoil covering the area. Do i need to compact the soil or leave it loose and just rake it?

3. Mix in some compost

4. Roll on the new grass

5. I plan to use railway sleepers as the edging to contain it all and keep it seperate from the stone driveway which is the next job.

Anything i am missing, or does that sound about right how to do it?

:)
