Advice on how to quote for a chimney breast removal

I'm trying to build a quote for a customer to remove a chimney breast from a bungalow. I spoke with my local building control and they said I need to submit a building notice with a cheque for £421.20. A local structural engineer has asked for £420 to do the calcs. That's £841 before I've even swung a hammer.
Are these charges right or am I missing a trick here?

SE costs seem a bit steep but BC is about right, we pay about £250 - £300 for the calcs normally on a job like that but suppose depends where you are.

My prices were including vat so the SE isn't too far out either
