I am wanting to put a new toilet on the first floor where there was a bath and sink but no toilet. there is a drain where the waste from the bathroom goes but it is shared and was wondering if it is easier to have a our own as a new soil stack is going to be needed. we have a large square drain cover next to the shared drain would we be able to connect into that with out own. and how we go about it, what regs are there and is it a builder who needs to dig the new connection.

thanks

are you contemplating doing this as a diy project?

you will need building regs, so first pop down to your local council, get an application form and take it from there.
