Real plumbers use Yorkshire traditional.

No, just flux the pipe and push it together.

What I do, which is not shown in the vid is dip the end of the solder in the flux.

For a learner on old pipe a little cleaning maybe an idea, just to be on the safe side.

Always clean the pipe and fitting before soldering, it's just good practice, try not to touch the pipe after cleaning either

Try it Bathstyle, on the roughest, dirtiest piece of copper in the scrap box

I know how flux works, I just feel it's good practice to always clean the pipes, now here's my rolls eyes backatcha x 2

It's essential to clean the pipes when you use Yorkshire traditional.

Laco and other inferior brands are self cleaning fluxes, otherwise you may as well use the traditional which is a much better flux to work with.

rolling eyes is my favorite

Stick with the roll eyes, it makes you appear quite a humble man, any other smiley could possibly make you come across as condescending which I'm sure you wouldn't want.

I've seen people dip their solder in the flux some time ago. Does this help, or is it overkill?
