I'm renovating a bathroom and would like to put one in. The walls are lath and plaster, but I can fit a bit of 2 by 4 to provie adequate support, so I'm wondering if I can wall mountany sink OR if I need to specifically buy a wall mounted on. Also, I can run the hot & cold supplies easily, but wonder if the 40mm waste is hard to run inside the stud wall. Does thi tend to be tricky?

most if not all pedestal type sinks are wall hung and the pedestal slots under so you can of course wall mount them and ditch the pedestal. The difference is purpose made wall hung sinks tend to have a much neater bottom and especially the waste arrangement is often hidden by a lip, overhang or similar.

As for the waste go nuts. a straight run is fine but bends can be a little fiddly. It can also be a bit noisy.
