I'm fitting a new twin socket fascia to an existing wall outlet. The new fascia has two Earth connectors on the back where the old has only one.

Does it matter which of the Earth connectors I fix the Earth cable to, or do I need to split it or something. Sorry if it's a stupid question, just want to be safe.

Cheers,
Lee.

Usually the two terminals are joined with a strip of metal, have a close look and yours probably is.
Just take the earth to either one, then take a flylead to the lug on the back box (not a requirement but good practice)

Thanks, yes there is a metal strip.

Why would the newer one have two Earth connectors? Are the old ones less safe in some way?

The new ones with two terminals are for a different type of circuit that are used in offices.
No they are no less, or no more safe.
