The AEG Competence B4101-4-M built-in electric oven was installed when I moved in to my current house. This has been working fine.

At the weekend, during use, the oven made a loud pop and tripped the circuit breaker.

I turned the oven off, reset the circuit and turned the oven back on. All good so far, oven appears to be working ok.

It sound becomes apparent that the oven fan is working and the temperature/thermostat light comes on but there is no heat.

From what I've read this sounds like the circular element has blown. I'm just hoping for some confirmation of this theory before I purchase the part, which looks to be in the region of £25. Still cheaper than calling someone out I know. :)

If you ohm it out, the heating element should read R = (V^2)/P with V^2 being 52900, so a 4kw element should read approx. 13 ohms, cold.
Evidently there was a short circuit which has now melted away.

Well I don't have any kit to do that but given that the oven doesn't get hot at all then I have to assume the element is bust.
