I recently brought a dvd recorder which has freeview. i have connected it all but have now lost the reception to my tv's upstairs. these were running off a extension downstairs then a 4 way booster up stairs. i was also receiving my sky upstairs somehow as well .
i now have a really bad reception upstairs.
what would be the best thing to do as have been told to go in loft with either a y splitter or a four way .
i'm a bit confused , do i just cut into the aerial in the loft ?
and is that going to weaken downstairs signal as well

Is the booster one of those that uses the power supply from the sky box? If this is the case, plugging anything inbetween the sky box and the booster which doesn't pass the 12v through will stop it from working.

no the booster is just one of the cheap ones that you plug in the wall and meant to help signal . got it from argos , it's philex i think . the only thing i hadf in the sky box was an extension that made the sky work upstairs but now i get nothing . have to keep swapping aerials at he main socket so kids can waych upstairs lol

try this Aerial >DVD rec ae in
DVD rec ae out > sky box ae in
sky box ae out > main tv
sky box rf2 out > 4 way in loft then each output to tv as required
if the 4 way has bypass the you can use a "magic eye" to
control sky box from upstairs tv(if you want to)
and dont forget to switch on the sky box rf2 power

Thanks sureitsoff will try this and let you know how i get on .....if i can work it out lol . thanks again .

just to get this straight .....do i just go in the loft and cut the aerial cable that is coming from the roof ? and then put the fitting on ?

Has the dvd recorder the facility to pass the signal through?
Do you need to make a setting.
I would forget the sky box, get it working from dvd, then when that is ok, put the sky back into the circuit

do not cut the lead from the aerial, try to feed the DVD direct from the aerial then as i stated in my previous post
another poster has said to get the system working without the sky box initially then add it later, yeah try that I added it into the system so that the other tv's can watch sky
