Morning,

I have a freestanding air con unit that I've vented out through the loft. This has of course needed a long vent hose. I'm worried that the heat isn't efficiently being pumped through it and ending up blowing back into the unit.

Is there some sort of pump I could use midway to help the heat move along?

Do you mean a fan mid way along? Potentially an extractor fan may work, however you need to check manufacturer instructions for the ac unit that it is permitted to operate with a vent that is longer than a certain length in the first place..

Yeh, something mid way just to help extract the warm air. I guess some sort of extractor fan could work. Just trying to picture how to set that up.

You know what, I'd already found that and ordered one :D

I'm going to try it this side of the ceiling first, but I've got power in the loft if I need to do it that way

Well, it's been in full swing for a couple of hours and is doing the job - no warm air coming back through the AC. The fan has a long enough power cable for it to sit in the loft and be plugged in outside.

My aircon portable unit can also be used as a dehumidifier but when it is used that way I have to stick a pipe in a container to collect the water. When running as an air con the instructions also say that it dehumidifying at the same time so not only is it cooler it is also dryer air and when used like this I do not have to attach a container because the humid air go's out the exhaust - so are you filling your loft with humidity.

Why dont you exhaust through a window. I have a side opening window and made a board that that fits in the opening and exhaust out through a hole in that.

Ah I see -that is a bit of a twisty run, is it flex all the way - just like a kitchen extractor its not the best when using a flex.

Yes, flex hose but pulled as straight as possible to make the route as short as possible.
