Hi,

I am looking to install a split system air conditioner/heater that has an external air heat pump/compressor unit. It's an upper flat of a two story maisonette in South London.

I am currently talking with the other freeholder (and neighbours) about getting agreement where to install it, however it is not clear if I need to get planning permission.

The planning portal suggested I do not need it permission for an air pump if its for heating purposes only.

Even if I agree with the neighbours, I do not want issues when I sell the property.

Do I need planning permission?

Thanks

These are permitted development. Your problem is, permitted development does not apply to flats.

There are potential noise issues (Environmental Protection Act) too from the vibration
