Air in glow worm boiler, not firing up

Hi,

I was fitting a new shower pump a few days ago and managed to get an airlock in the cold water pipes. When trying to clear it in normal ways had failed I was told (elsewhere I should add) to run the shower and put my finger over the end of the pipe so that the pressure from the hot water pushed the air lock out of the cold (it's a thermostatic shower mixer). It didn't work and it also now seems to have put air into my hot water system. This morning the boiler was making a loud bubbling sound as it drew in water - and now it's failing to fire up, making lots of noise and a we have no hot water or heating. It tries to start, makes quite a bit of noise and then the flame indicator on the panel goes out and it tries again. After it's failed five times it then stops trying and throws error code F1 which means it's failed to ignite five times in a row.

I guess I need to bleed/vent the air from the boiler but I can't find anything anywhere to tell me how? It's a glow worm flexicom 24hx. Can anyone give me some direction please? All the links online I can find talk about bleeding the radiators but it's not in the radiators, it's the hot water system for the showers and taps?

Thanks,

Jez

Should say that I managed to clear the air lock in the cold water pipe so I just need help on venting/bleeding air from the boiler and getting it going again.

Thanks,

Jez

Attached image is the view in the cupboard above the boiler - I assume that is the pump so are the two black things some kind of bleed valve? If so then how do they work? It's a very tight opening so I can't get in to look - could only just get my hand in with the phone to take that photo to see what is up there!

Thanks,

Jez

the pic shows a magnetic filter ,not what you need to be looking at. need more info before any really helpful advice can be given. pics of hot water storage cylinder or tank and pipework. I assume you have a tank in loft ,or more likely two. make sure they both have water in them.

Thanks for replies. This turned out to be unrelated to the work I'd done on the shower - had a boiler engineer come round and it was a blockage in the condensate trap causing it to fail to fire up. Annoyingly timed coincidence!

Thanks,

Jez
