Am considering bolting one of these to an existing central heating system, 10 rads 3 less than 2 years old has had inhibitor in system, the system would need a chemical flush. Is this something i could do myself, hiring kit to do it? If not what kind of ball park figure would i be looking at to get it done?

I'm afraid that it's not as easy as just bolting on an air to water unit and throwing the switch. If you do then you will be seriously dissappointed. There are many factors that need to be considered. Perhaps it would be better for you to find a good installer

I have done some research. I envisaged taking 28mm from the pump and using a 100litre buffer tank and feeding the rads from this. I also understand the heat pumps exchanger could be particularly prone to clogging with the magnitite already in the system. Intend to put a magnetic filter in the system but i don't want to overload that from start. Hence the query regarding the flushing. I have had a quote from 1 installer and have contacted 3 more who don't seem to want to reply, perhaps they have too much work on already. If you are anywhere near Gloucestershire perhaps you could give me a quote, have to be MCS registered though. :D
Would you consider using john guest flexible pipe and fittings with the glycol mix? do you have to have the first stretch of pipe from the heat pump in copper like a gas boiler?
I also intend fitting a ecocent water heater in what used to be the airing cupboard and take air from the living room to provide the source for this. i have a wood burner in there and its overly hot in winter with it lit. For summer the room is south facing so should provide ambient heat enough to heat water for this device. Have you any experience of the ecocent system and what are your opinions of it?

Not familiar with that one but have you considered your radiator sizing? With water temperatures of about 55c you will have to upsize your rads.

As for flushing, cleanliness is good for toastiness..

why do you need a MCS registered installer as ASHP's have been removed from the RHI

Was going to suck it and see on the rad size, i understand aluminium ones might be a better option regarding heat output size for size is this correct?

Its a one of payment of about £800 isn't it?

Not worth it imo with installation cost of at least £400 per kilowatt, and high running costs forever.

The RHI doc march 2011 removed ASHP from the incentive leaving solely GSHP and water source.
ASHP technology will be reviewed in 2012 as at present it is not decided if the technology actually works let alone produce the required COP of 2.9 to qualify.
but whilst there is water source and steam generated heat, ASHP may never be included.

As the owner of an air conditioning company based in Gloucester this is right up my street.

Except I wouldn't have one of these installed in my house this year or next year or indeed a good few years till they invent one that actually works properly. If gas is available then that should be your first and only choice. I believe even the g.ments own figures bear gas out as the cheapest way to heat a home/water

Get an insulation company in to do a full survey and uprate accordingly (That's what an ASHP installer would insist on anyway) then the new A+gas boiler will hardly run and your heating bill (and installation costs) will be lower than one of these ugly great things..

A good friend of mine runs a 'green' company who insists these things can work well so if you are really serious about spending a lot of money now and every year going forward PM and we can chat ...

Cheers

Richard

Spot on, if Nat gas is available it's still the cheapest form,it's just tweaking it to get it right.

According to the DECC site ASHP are one of the selected systems.
I have 3.86kw solar panels so intend off setting one against the other over the course of the year.
Was that a 19% increase in the cost of gas by our Scots relations?
BG won't pay me £800 a year tax free to use its product

All this ASHP/ GSHP is - is really just recycling the old refridgerent technolodgy again (which was kicked into touch a long before my time)!

Only this time the government under the green banner has fell for it hook line and sinker (at a huge cost to the tax paying public) !
