air vent

Hi I'm currently blocking up our old fireplace and was wondering what the minimum size vent is required. There are a million and one sizes in screwfix and so was wondering what was required. I would rather have a taller one than a wider one.

Any help would be appreciated

Don't think there is s specific required minimum size, but 9" x 3" would be OK.
