I picked up a cheap video doorbell some time ago from a charity shop. I bought rechargeable batteries to complete it. Finally got around to trying it out and discovered the subscription charges. I was tempted try a six month subscription but I started reading reviews about the Aiwit that I had purchased and discovered that Aiwit originally promised 3 days video storage for life. Then they altered it. No free storage at all. Everyone has to subscribe to get any functionality at all from it. I’m slow on the uptake of a video doorbell because in my current role I’m knocking on people’s doors on a daily basis and I hate being spotted on their video doorbells. So do I just remove the batteries and take a hammer to the Aiwit and then bin it or can I actually get some functionality from it? I certainly won’t give it to a charity shop for some other unwitting fool buy. I also read that people can connect to your doorbells and monitor your visitors.

Whatever suits you best, but my advice would be to just get a ring doorbell.

No surprises on the subscription though, it's what some companies love to do.

Watch Louis rossman on YT, and expose yourself to more examples of what companies do after post purchase of a device.
