Hello

Apologies in advance for the very novice question I have zero experience in this.

My alarm system is reporting that a battery needs to be replaced. I’ve unscrewed the panel and I think the battery is behind this round cover in the picture enclosed but I can seem to remove the cover from the board. I suppose it needs a nudge but I’m afraid I might short circuit the board if I do it incorrectly.

Is it worth calling and paying for an installer or is this something I can do relatively risk free on my own?

If I can an online reference to a replacement battery will be much appreciated :)

Many thanks

No that’s the keypad ....look for a 25x25 metal white box ....it’s in there BUT it may be programmed for eng reset on panel lid tamper ...

Oh boy. So should this be a separate component from the keypad mounted to the wall? Where usually should one look for such a box as I can’t find any 25x25 metal boxes on any of the walls...

Found it!

So is it just a matter of opening the box and replace the battery there ?

The keypad logs suggest to call an installer (see image), however I’m not sure whether it is because the battery needs replacemt and I can do it on my own and confirm or, as you say, I need an installer to replace and key in something.

I do have the installation manual if it helps, should I book engineer still or attempt to do it on my own ?

It is stated in the installation manual so assuming the engineer who installed it hasn’t changed it (we inherited the alarm from the previous owner so no idea) then yes. Is there a way to check the code is working before doing anything?

Right having read the installation manual I think I understand what needs to be done. That said it might not worth the hassle as I managed to get in touch with the installer and he’s asking for £50 to replace the battery.

Any idea how much a replacement battery cost as it may not worth the hassle of buying and replacing myself if he’s offering to do that at this price.

The system is branded cooper 9651 if it helps.
